The trail supports all manor of non-vehicular travel including walking, running, and biking.

There are many access points along the Trail. Some day the the Trail will extend from Santa Cruz to Monterey and points south.

CATELLUS EAST
Open Window on the Bay

The future of the Catellus site is in limbo.  The hospitality industry turned out in force to lobby for NOT opening the Window on the Bay. The City Council wants the area "cleaned up."  City Staff want to move forward with the development of a grand boat stoarage yard.

However, the plans for the boat yard and other "improvements" (parking lots and landscaping of the existing buildings) must go before the California Coastal Commission.

Watch this site for when and where the Coastal Commission will consider this issue. Unless these "improvements" are headed off, the City will spend a quarter million dollars insuring that the window willl stay cluttered with commercial operations.  Monterey deserves better!
