A NEW HOTEL AND A NEW SPOT TO VIEW THE BAY
The Clement Intercontinental Hotel was recently completed after 25 years of false starts. On the left is a view looking north west along Cannery Row. In the distance, under the bridge, is a glimpse of the Aquarium. Monterey Bay is to the right along with the hotel entrance and lobby. Click any image for a larger version. |

Turning to the right we see the sign announcing Bubba Gumps (the resturant is to the right out of the picture) and the side of the Clement Hotel. To view the bay, follow the colored concrete towards the far right end of the hotel. |
||||
Navigate around the Hotel's circular driveway. |

Ahh, the Bay is in sight. Notice the small sign in the lower right corner of this picture. It has a pair of binoculars and an arrow directing you straight ahead to the viewing area. There is a sign like this one next to the side walk near where we began our trip to the viewing area. But it is easy to miss. |

Straight ahead is the public viewing area. |

This is the view looking north west across the hotel toward the Aquarium. You can circumnavigate the hotel exterior by walking along the deck in front of the hotel. Turn left at the far side of the hotel and proceed toward the street. Doc Rickett's Lab will be on your right as you near the street. |

This is the view to the north west from the north (Bay) end of the viewing area. The buildings in the distance house the Aquarium. |

This is the view toward the north. The dunes in front of Sand City and Seaside are visible in the distance To see what this area looked like before the hotel was constructed, click here! Thanks to Kenneth Adelman and www.californiacoastline.org | Top | |
