The trail toward PG continues left of center above between industrial and commercial buildings. Right of center, are some of the cannery worker "shacks" that were "saved" by the City after much urging by the residents. The path that crosses the trail at this point and goes down in front of the shacks was known as "chicken walk." Chicken walk was referred to in Steinbeck's "Cannery Row" as the path the cannery workers used to go to work. Today it is known as Bruce Arriss Way (Bruce was a local artist).

The trail into Monterey is straight ahead in the picture to the left. The fence surrounds a construction area where Monterey's last hotel The Clement has been constructed.
